About Pixel Passport
Pixel Passport is a flag quiz with a twist: every flag begins as scrambled colour static and slowly sharpens into the real thing over roughly nine seconds. The sooner you recognise it and buzz in, the more points it's worth, so the game rewards knowing flags by their colours and shapes rather than their fine details.
You can play with Multiple Choice, which gives you four options but caps your top score, or Type It Out, which is harder but pays up to 1,000 points a flag. Correct answers in a row build a streak multiplier up to 2×, and a single wrong answer resets it. A wrong guess also locks that flag out of its top score tier, so wild guessing doesn't pay.
You can quiz yourself on the whole world or narrow it to Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas or Oceania. The Daily Passport mode gives every player the same ten flags each day and tracks a daily streak, so you can compare results with friends.
How to play Pixel Passport
- Pick an answer style (Multiple Choice or Type It Out), a region and a number of rounds, or choose Daily Passport.
- A flag appears as scrambled noise and gradually comes into focus.
- Buzz in with your answer as soon as you think you know it. Earlier answers score more.
- Wrong guesses lock the flag out of its top scoring tier, but you can still get it right for fewer points.
- Chain correct answers to raise your streak multiplier, up to double points.
- At the end of the run you get your score, number correct, best streak and average answer speed.

Tips and strategy
- Learn flags by their big colour blocks first. Red-white-red, green-white-orange and blue-yellow combinations are recognisable long before the details appear.
- Stripes appear before emblems. Decide whether a flag has horizontal or vertical bands as early as you can; that alone rules out most options.
- Protect your streak. When you are unsure, waiting a second for more detail usually scores more than a wrong guess that resets the multiplier.
- Practise one region at a time. Similar-looking flags tend to be neighbours, and drilling a region teaches you the differences.
- Do the Daily Passport every day even if you're short on time; it only takes ten flags and keeps your streak going.
Frequently asked questions
How is scoring worked out?
Each flag is worth more the earlier you answer. Type It Out pays up to 1,000 points per flag, Multiple Choice pays less, and a streak multiplier of up to 2× applies to correct answers in a row.
What is the Daily Passport?
Ten flags that are the same for everyone on a given day. It has its own streak for consecutive days played.
Does Type It Out accept small spelling mistakes?
It is forgiving about capitalisation and common alternative country names, but the answer does need to be recognisably correct.
