About Cyber Serpent
Cyber Serpent is a neon snake game with four different rulesets, which we call protocols. The core is the snake game people have been playing since the 1970s and on early mobile phones: steer a growing line around a grid, eat nodes to score, and don't crash into yourself. Each protocol then changes one big thing about how that works.
Overclock is the pure, classic version. Lightcycle makes you grow on every single step whether you eat or not, and adds a pink Phase Node that shrinks your trail back down and pays a large bonus based on how long you were. Firewall fills the arena with magenta barriers that rebuild into a new maze layout every three nodes you collect. Glitch puts a rogue AI in the maze that actively chases you; each node you eat stuns it for about a second.
You can also choose the arena boundary: Wrap lets you exit one side and reappear on the other, while Solid Walls ends the run if you touch the edge. Each protocol keeps its own best score, so there are four separate leaderboards to chase.
How to play Cyber Serpent
- Tap a protocol on the home screen to read its briefing, pick Wrap or Solid Walls, then press Jack In.
- Steer the serpent around the grid. It moves continuously in the last direction you chose.
- Eat glowing nodes to grow and score points.
- The run ends if you hit your own body, a firewall barrier, the Glitch AI, or (in Solid Walls mode) the edge of the arena.
- Use Settings to switch between Normal and Fast game speed or turn sound effects off.

Tips and strategy
- In Overclock, hug the edges of the arena while you are long. Keeping your body in tidy lanes leaves open space in the middle for later.
- In Lightcycle, time the Phase Node. The bonus grows with your length, so the ideal moment is just before you run out of space, not the moment it appears.
- In Firewall, remember that the maze changes every three nodes. Before collecting the third, make sure you are not heading straight at a spot where a wall could appear in front of you.
- In Glitch, eat a node and immediately change direction. The one-second stun is enough to open a gap, and turning makes the AI re-route.
- Wrap mode is more forgiving and a good way to learn a protocol; switch to Solid Walls when you want a tougher challenge.
